Dalian Heavy Mechanical &Electrical Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd is a subsidiary wholly owned by DHHI, of level-1 legal person entity, and the frontier unit of DHHI for EPC system integration and development of new technology and market. 3.Ferrosilicon production process
The qualified raw materials such as quartz, coke, iron ore pellet etc. will be delivered to the proportioning station outside the main building as per the smelting requirements. Mixed materials will be transferred to discharge conveyor, and then delivered via belt to the top of feed bins and then charged into the feed bins via triangle belt conveyor. From feed bins, the materials will enter the furnace through charging chute. Intermittent feeding method is adopted. Another charging chute is set up outside the furnace to deliver materials to second floor platform where materials are reclaimed by stoking machine and fed into furnace randomly.
The materials are fed into semi-enclosed ferrosilicon furnace. The current will be introduced into furnace via 3-phase electrode from power supply through the transformer. The electric arc produced by reaction of electrode and materials will emit heat to the smelting bath fully filled with materials. With the heat of electric arc and resistance, the materials mixed with silica, semi-coke and ironworks (steel scrap or pellet) are smelted and finally reduced to ferrosilicon. During the smelting process, the voltage grade and current intensity of the electrode are set as per smelting parameters. Since the voltage and current at different stage are not the same, the power capacity in the furnace will vary. The electrode is always inserted into the materials stably and gas is escaping evenly from the material top surface, and arc will not be exposed. Uniformly blended materials are fed into the furnace in batches when the material level drops, thus to ensure the level of material remains the same in a cone around the electrode. In order to ensure good permeability of material layers during smelting process, the high temperature gas generated from the reaction will pass through the material layers evenly and slowly to heat and reduce the materials. The material surface shall be observed periodically and treated by using stoking machine.
When the ferrosilicon produced in the furnace accumulates to certain extent, use the burner to open the tap hole so as to release the liquid ferrosilicon into the ladle. After the tapping process is over, plug the tap hole. The ladle will be transferred via rail car to the casting workshop and lifted via crane to the casting machine.
